Gawthrope ACR, first to invest in new frame measurement system
Return to news18th December 2013
Leading Selsia accident repairer, D Gawthrope ACR of Knottingley, West Yorkshire has become the first repairer in the UK to invest in the new Haweka CMC4000 frame measurement system for commercial vehicles.
The Haweka Axis4000 truck wheel alignment equipment with the new chassis measuring rig was purchased to assist with the increase in commercial accident repairs which the company is now experiencing. For Gawthrope’s commercial vehicle customers, this, together with the wheel alignment camera system, will deliver up to 10% fuel savings and can increase tyre life by up to 25%.
The CMC4000 frame measurement equipment for trucks, buses and trailers can be a stand- alone product or as an add-on to the Axis4000 truck wheel alignment system. The major advantage of the CMC4000 is that the programme allows for measurements in gradual increments, set by the operator not the programme – this is as a result of the way the measuring frame is fitted to the vehicle.
The system does not require the removal of parts that would be in the way when using conventional frame measurement systems, resulting in faster repairs and reduced vehicle off road times. The CMC4000 enables problem-free accurate results on the condition of the vehicle frame and provides simple and clear on-screen 3D visualisations of the vehicle chassis before and after straightening.
The company has also invested in the Wheel Alignment Camera system which sends an infrared beam to a marker card/flag which has 4 reflective points. A measurement is sent to a camera and wirelessly to the system laptop where the data is recorded for analysing. There is also a printed reading before adjustment and after adjustment. Setting up and taking the first measurement reading before any adjustment is made is a remarkably slick process with minimum downtime.
Dean Gawthrope, Managing Director at D Gawthrope ACR Ltd said: “We have recently moved to larger premises and invested in new commercial vehicle equipment in order to allow us to cope with the rising demand for commercial repairs. After seeing a demonstration of the new CMC4000 rig from Haweka UK we knew it was the ideal piece of equipment to ensure our vehicle repairs are flawless. This is recognised and favoured by major insurance and fleet management companies.”
Dean went on to say: “With our RMIF Approved bodyshop we have gained the trust of household names such as Volvo and Asda and in order to retain this trust we have to ensure our workshop has leading edge equipment. The Haweka CMC4000 is wireless, quick and precise allowing us to provide a perfect repair to commercial chassis.”
